A review of the great service and seating on Thai Airways in Business Class from Bangkok to Seoul Incheon and BKK to Tokyo Narita Airports, on Boeing 777-200.
I have flown Thai Airways in Business Class twice, from Bangkok to Seoul, BKK-INC, and again from Bangkok to Toyko on Boeing 777-200 Flight BKK-NRT. Both flights were superb, and I give Thai Airways a solid 9 out of 10 stars for Business Class. Good, friendly service on the flight, along with great food and entertainment. Slippers and socks are provided, along with a kit including an eye-mask, mouthwash, chap-stick and various skin lotions.
A+ Service
The service was exemplary, always with a smile, and never a complaint - no matter how many times I asked for another juice or water. The cabin crew spoke English and Thai, and all were very attractive and helpful.
Seats
The seats are spacious - with separate arm rests for each passenger. The shell chair format allows for the seat to go back without bothering the person behind you. Lots of leg room and side room. The screen is built into the back of the shell in front of you, so you won't bother the front passenger if you use the touch screen (it won't push his seat up). The seats lie flat at an angle, which isn't the same as a flat bed, but almost as good. I didn't need to sleep on a 5 hour flight, so this was fine for relaxing. There are more than 11 controls to move your seat rest and chair into any position you like.
Food
The meals are a little more extravagant than they need to be for a flight, but I can't complain about that. The food was delicious. I didn't need so many choices, or so many courses, but it was nice to have. I felt like we were eating most of the flight. The snacks are available all the time, and Champagne is served from the moment you are seated.
Entertainment
The AVOD system (video on demand) is above average. In additional to more than 100 current Hollywood movies, there are Thai movies, and TV series from the US. Many music channels are available from various countries: k-pop, j-pop, Thai, and English language rock/pop. The game system is extensive, loaded with puzzle and arcade games.
The entertainment is available from the moment you sit down, and the headphones are already at the seat. There is only a short interruption for safety information.
It should be noted that I have flown Economy on Thai Airways several times on short flights to Kuala Lumpuir, and even the economy service was wonderful. The meals were great, and the seats give more room than most airlines. Thai Airways gets a score of 9 out of 10 in Economy as well as Business Class.
Thai Airways: highly recommended, and worth the extra cost.
